The Shoreham
Alliance Fire Protection has been awarded the contract to install fire sprinkler systems in the
Shoreham, a new 47 floor, 550 unit luxury condominium located at 400 East South Water Street in
Chicago. This project is scheduled to be completed 11/5/2005.
Over 7100 Viking upright pendent and sidewall fire sprinklers will be installed in the Shoreham.
Because of the height of the building, two fire pumps will be installed. The building will have 53
fire sprinkler systems. Five of the systems are dry pipe and and 47 wet pipe.
The Shoreham will be part of the 28-acre planned community known as Lakeshore East. This planned
community will consist of apartments, town homes, office and retail space, as well as a park and a
new public elementary school.
The Shoreham is being invested in by the The Building Investment Trust (BIT) as part of its
National Apartment Initiative (NAI). The NAI is a multi-year, $400 million equity investment
initiative that seeks apartment and condominium investment opportunities. NAI projects are designed
to promote the creation of housing for communities as well as thousands of union construction and
related jobs in urban markets across the country.
