Hard Rock Hotel - Fire Sprinkler Retrofit of Historic
Building
Alliance Fire Protection completed a fire sprinkler system
retrofit in the Hard Rock Hotel, a 37 floor building.
The Hard Rock Hotel, Chicago Illinois, is located in the
fully restored 1929 historic Carbide and Carbon building.
Due to it's central location, at 230 North Michigan Avenue,
it is close to several Chicago tourist attractions - Navy
Pier, Magnificent Mile, the Loop, Millennium Park, the Art
Institute and Theatre District.
Over 2,800 fire sprinklers were installed in what was a
former office building, converted into a first class hotel
with 383 Guest Rooms and 13 Suites. This project is a challenge
because there are historic finishing's in the building that
need to be left in place.
In addition to the fire sprinklers, Alliance Fire Protection
also installed a multi zone fire pump in the Hard Rock Hotel.
Due it's height, the Hard Rock Hotel needs two fire pumps
to supply the fire sprinklers with adequate water pressure.
